To Do
Basic premises
- Planned exhibits (As of February 2007):
- Montreal starting September 18th 2007; lasting 3 months
- San Francisco starting February 2008; lasting 3 months
- We should create a 10 minute experience
Archived artifacts
- RL artifacts shows the beginning of the trail. We should get an overview over what relevant items are in the library's archive and decide which we should use.
- Printed Photos from the SL archive (maybe motives could be SL version of out RL shots)
Interactive components
- Give museum audience limited interactive options by taking a client and removing functionality
- These functionalities should have access to them removed :
- UI
- Flying and teleporting functionality
- Building
- IMs
- Complicated procedures such as unlocking the door in the regenerated hotel should be made simpler
- Other problems:
Mixed reality component
The basic idea is that we create workstations in a contained space in the museum with a door leading out to the rest of the museum. This space is recreated in SL, but the door leads to our archive making it feel along the lines of augmented reality.
- The two way mirror
- Hang a large monitor on the wall in the contained space in both realities
- The museum monitors looks from the physical space into the contained space in SL
- The SL monitor looks out at the physical space via a webcam. TO DO Henrik investigates how to make this work. (this is in progress)
- Streaming server with webcam is installed and tested successfully. See Personal recursion: reality loop
Two version/Shards
- Contained version for the museum
- TODO: Lynn writes Robin about getting an offline version & Henrik investigates libsecondlife and opensim
- Can LL make a copy of NEWare for us?
- This is a question of willingness, not a technical issue: LL provides rollback service for regions, so the backup data is available.
- “Normal” SL version
Hard- and Software needs
- 2 Workstations. Standard off the shelf pcs with reasonable screens
- 1 "One way mirror" pc.
- Potential extra computers for fixed perspective screens (every individual screen takes another computer to run)
Other Issues
*Is there a way to remote control the pcs?
Posted at Mar 28/2007 07:50PM by lynn hershman:
Very good and comprehensive, but we need still a
cohesive budget
how many pc's and joy stick and stands
how many monitors and what size
We need to create the Roberta avatar, and add the roberta files
I'd like to see exactly what we will need by monday and a budget to figure out how we can design this.
