Gabriella Giannachi reflects on the process of Life to the Second Power [link]
My own early thoughts were along the lines of “pheew” when it was all over. That hour was a pretty intense experience. Sitting here at Wallenberg Hall on the Stanford campus with Lynn, Michael, Henry & Nicole was such an interesting experience. The atmosphere was practically buzzing and there was a great sense of relief and joy when the hour had passed with only minor hiccups.
The answer to the question of “Can we even do this?” that we had all asked before turned out to be: “Yes we can.” These things probably aren't ready for primetime yet, but we can produce a fairly compelling experience with SL and streaming audio via the web.
I was so great to see the blog posts above and hear people share their thoughts on this. I hope that more people feel like chipping in on this wiki page with how they saw this day.
It is always a remarkable feeling to have achieved the "impossible", and there was an amazing synergy in the collaborative energy to bring the archive both to animation and to life, and besides all that, it was great fun!
But, the fun has only begun, as there are many more impossible reaches that I foresee in the next few months.
A great job by all!
